Lavinia Brancusi
I am an IP specialist with expertise in the industrial property law and with an extensive knowledge of different areas of civil law.
Dr. iur. at University of Warsaw, Faculty of Law and Administration, Institute of Civil Law, with an awarded doctoral dissertation in design law, I hold the position of Adiunkt at Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Legal Studies, New Technologies Law Center. Currently I am completing my habilitation project ‘Trade Marks’ Functionality in the EU Law. An approach embracing the US functionality doctrine and competition rules’ within DIALOG grant (0008/DLG/2019/10):’Excellence in Legal Research. Promoting Polish achievements in the area of legal sciences abroad.’

Activities

At Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Legal Studies, New Technologies Law Center, in the academic year 2019/2020 delivering lectures on design and trade mark protection in the realm of new technologies.

Since 2011 counselling to IP departments of reputable Warsaw law firms in matters related to product protection, at all stages of proceedings.

Participating at local and international research projects and legal studies concluded with publishing books and specialist/expert publications more at “Publications”

Frequently invited speaker at lectures and conferences organized by the Polish Patent Office, and at workshops and conferences organized by other Polish Universities, such as in Cracow, Poznan, Lublin, more at “Presentations”
